You might be treating your bed-wetting condition the wrong way!

What is more terrible than waking up with a wet bed all around! It consumes over those hopes and happiness. Brutal! Dreadful! And all that aghast! We seek the edges of the Earth, ask space agencies to direct their telescopes over those ceaseless-seeming spaces to look for some solution, surf millions of servers over the internet, and whatnot! Bed-wetting is something that no one wants to face, especially when one starts growing up. It somehow grows from the stage when one starts using bedding protection till the stage when one starts taking psychological therapies. But what actually causes it? Sometimes the causes hold the key to the solutions.

The curious case of Benjamin Bed-Wetter!

Looking at the underlying causes of what causes this condition and what worsens works like a lamp in the darkness. The very basic cause of bed-wetting is an underlying issue with the urinary system. But this is not the complete story. Here are a few of those underlying factors that lead to Incontinence and then bed protection thereafter.

  • A blockage in the urinary tract leads to bed-wetting. It might fill the bladder slowly leading to a situation when the bladder fails to hold and leak-out.
  • Small bladder often leads to this too.
  • Diabetes, Enlarged Prostate, or some other infection.
  • Certain medicines tend to have side-effects such as this.
  • Certain diuretic beverages like coffee or alcohol.
  • Neurological conditions.
  • Psychological stress and anxiety.

They say things are related – Our psychology affects our physiology and vice versa. And when we look at the brain's anatomy, we find it to be true. Millions of neurons web our neo-cortex, the reptilian brain, and the rest of the body. No wonder we salivate at the very moment we hear cheesecake. This is why they advise you to think positive.

When it comes to bed-wetting, a physical underlying cause will certainly need a medical diagnosis and treatment, but this does not call you out of your responsibility. Even certain physical conditions get manifested due to the psychological input. If you find that there is no infection or some physical cause related to the bed-wetting, know that it might be psychological. Some people wet their bed because they think that an incontinence diaper or pads will save them from wetting their bed. Where for sure these pads do save the bed, it leads to pelvic muscles being abandoned and then you lose your control over them. Try to not urinate in the pad when you can.

Apart from it, stress and anxiety leads to bed-wetting. This same anxiety and stress causes pee-shyness too – a condition in contrast where one fails to urinate when one wants to. Do not stress if you wet-your bed. Most of the time it fades away by itself. If you have a child who wets their bed, try to perform some psychological tricks to help them get rid of it — apply some cream over their parts and tell them that it will stop their condition; tell them to chant some prayer or meditate near bed time and speak that it will heal it too. This would be called some pseudo-science, but it works through the psychological section. There are people who claim that drinking one glass of water every hour till bed has helped them get rid of it within a couple of weeks. There is no harm in trying this out. Tell your kid to remember to get up and urinate if they feel so at night. We might not remember it but our subconscious takes control when we sleep.

The catharsis to this wet stage!

Although bed wetting is terrible, it is treatable. If the cause is psychological, deal with it accordingly. There is no harm in trying several psychological tricks rather than suffering for years till teen and beyond. Get yourself consulted to some doctor for diagnosing any physical cause. Show empathy with the person suffering and create awareness about this issue. This awareness leads to acceptance and a fall in anxiety at the global level. Use diapers, bed protection, or incontinence pads (Shop now in Confidenceclub) but don't rely on them.
