Tips:

Use All Three Hits

In the volleyball game, every team player needs to touch the ball three times before they transfer it to the net. So if you are bumping the ball over the net with unused hits, you might be missing out on scores.

Avoid Touching the Second ball Unless Setter Tell you

Allow setter to take the second ball as they are fast, well trained, and are likely to put it into the net. Thus, when a ball comes towards you, keep your ears open for setter’s advice and then make a move.

Learn the Basic Stance

When you are not serving, it’s a good idea to learn the basic stance. For the first stance, you need to place your feet a bit wider than your shoulder with your weight on the toes.

Bend the knees and make sure that the arms should be in front of you. It will make you ready to take action instantly and prepare for other movements while playing.

Do Not Place Ball too Close to the Net

One of the biggest mistakes that newbies make is that they place ball too much closer to the volley ball nets. Besides being tough to hit, this practice is also dangerous as inexperienced hitters are more likely to have knee or ankle injuries. So, it’s best to make your foot a little bit away from the net.

Avoid Getting Under the Net

As a new player, you might want to get as many hits as you can. But make sure you do not get too much close to the net. Just note that touching the net is a violation of the rule and can make you get out of the game. You might also land on someone’s foot. So make use you know how close you are getting to the net.

Do Not Catch

Another rule of volleyball is that the players are not supposed to catch the ball while playing. So keep on playing till the end and enjoy it.

Bring Important Gear

Before your game, make sure you bring in everything you require for a safe play. It usually includes socks, clean shorts, knee pads, ankle braces, water bottle, towel, and much more.

Avoid Jumping Straight when Blocking

Many people think that blocking a spike means you just need to jump straight and put your arms in the air. The right way is to press your hands forward at the peak while you jump high enough over the net. This will help you block the ball in a much better way.

Ensure that You Have a Safe Side

A defensive position is a posture you take when another team is attacking. It not just makes you physically ready, but also mentally ready too. A good defensive position is arms bent in front of the attacker so that you can move fast in any direction to block the ball.

Always Stay Alert

With 6 players and three touches pr play, that means in each play, there are a minimum of three players that don’t touch the ball before it goes over. Thus, if you are one of the fix players, do not just watch. Instead, always be ready for the ball even it seems like you are not going to stay in the game.

Take Enough Time to Warm Up and Cool Down

A good warm-up is necessary for any game as it prepares your ligaments and muscles to be used early for physical activity. It does not just help you perform better in the volleyball game but also reduces the risk of getting a severe injury.

Cooling down is also essential to prevent soreness after the game. Therefore, make sure you have a good warm-up and cooling down before the game begins.

Dig Right to Prevent Injury

Digging is a powerful move, the same as a dive. It allows the player to save the ball from touching the ground. To do this action, you need to land on your chest with your arms outstretched. So make sure you do a lot of practice for this rolling method in order to prevent injury.
